Maersk updates the cancellation window for unused bookings

The October 15 change concerns eligible shipments that remain unmaterialised after the first vessel’s estimated departure.

Effective 15 October 2026, Maersk says an eligible booking may be automatically cancelled when the shipment has not materialised and at least five days have passed since the first vessel’s estimated time of departure. The carrier says the change helps release unused capacity earlier.

This is a Maersk operational rule for eligible bookings. The five-day measure is not a free-storage allowance, a universal cargo cut-off or an automatic extension for late delivery. Bookings that should proceed but may be affected need prompt confirmation with the carrier.
