How transport connects the journey
- 01 Pack
Choose packaging suitable for the contents and the transport mode.
- 02 Consolidate
Bring cargo to the departure facility and confirm the booking and cutoff.
- 03 Move
The main transport leg connects origin and destination; transfers may follow.
- 04 Hand over
Complete destination handling, clearance and the agreed final delivery.
What the service covers
Full container load means booking a container for your shipment, not necessarily filling all its space. It gives you a different handling arrangement from sharing a container through LCL. Assess usable dimensions, cargo weight, loading access and delivery needs together; a nominal container size alone cannot establish that your cargo fits.
Follow the shipment
The operational chain includes equipment collection, loading, export formalities, terminal acceptance, vessel transport, destination release, inland delivery and empty-container return. Assign an owner to each handover. Ask the forwarder which cargo, document and weight-information deadlines apply to the actual booking, rather than reusing dates from an earlier shipment.
Read the quotation
A container freight rate is only one component of the budget. Confirm origin trucking, terminal handling, documents, customs work, destination delivery and any applicable surcharges. Ask how free time is counted and distinguish storage, demurrage and detention under that provider's terms, because local definitions and charging arrangements can differ.
A practical example
Suppose a factory's pallets occupy less than a full container but require careful handling. Compare FCL and LCL for the same collection and delivery addresses. Include both local ends and unloading arrangements. FCL may still be worth considering, but do not choose it merely because the volume crosses an informal threshold.
Avoid common mistakes
Do not assume a sealed container removes all inspection, delay or damage risks. Also avoid treating free time as unlimited storage: the starting event, calendar basis and return deadline matter. A release document is not a delivery appointment, and an empty container still needs an accepted return location.
Prepare before sending
Before loading, confirm equipment suitability, allowed payload and who arranges safe loading. Keep seal and shipment records, and assign shipping-instruction and verified-gross-mass submissions. Prepare the consignee's unloading capacity and appointment process before departure. Retain written empty-return instructions and ask promptly if the nominated depot or delivery plan changes.
Before you ship
- Compare complete FCL and LCL quotes.
- Confirm loading and document responsibilities.
- Record free time and empty-return instructions.
