EU reports the start of CBAM’s definitive phase

The Commission confirms that CBAM customs-system integration began with the new phase on 1 January.

In its 14 January update, the Commission reported that the CBAM registry had been connected with national import systems, TARIC and the EU customs single window. Authorisation checks are part of release procedures for covered goods.

The measure concerns defined product categories and applicable conditions; it is not a general carbon fee on every parcel. Importers need to establish whether the goods and their circumstances fall within scope before planning compliance.
