Postal parcels and dedicated lines

Look beyond the channel name to the actual delivery chain.

Interactive explainer

How transport connects the journey

  1. 01 Pack

Choose packaging suitable for the contents and the transport mode.

  2. 02 Consolidate

Bring cargo to the departure facility and confirm the booking and cutoff.

  3. 03 Move

The main transport leg connects origin and destination; transfers may follow.

  4. 04 Hand over

Complete destination handling, clearance and the agreed final delivery.

01

What the service covers

Postal small-parcel services commonly use postal networks, while a dedicated line is a provider's product organised around a particular route or market. The label alone does not define speed, tracking, compensation or customs treatment. Ask for the exact service name, destination coverage and accepted goods before comparing it with express delivery.

02

Follow the shipment

A route-based service may collect parcels, consolidate them for export, arrange international transport, clear them under its agreed process and hand them to a local delivery partner. Postal services also involve network handovers. Ask who performs the final delivery and whether a second tracking reference appears after the international leg.

03

Read the quotation

Read the complete price rules: actual or volumetric weight, minimum charging increments, size limits, remote-area additions and possible returns. Clarify who pays import charges and what customs services are included. A product advertised as a line, postal service or door delivery does not by itself establish that taxes are prepaid.

04

A practical example

Imagine selling lightweight accessories to two countries. One product may provide only milestone scans in one destination and a final delivery scan in the other. Check these features country by country. Choose according to the evidence your customer-support process needs, rather than assuming the same tracking experience across the whole network.

05

Avoid common mistakes

A handover between operators can create a gap in visible tracking, which is not by itself proof of loss. Conversely, a dispatch scan is not proof of delivery. Avoid promising your buyer an unverified arrival date, and do not confuse a provider's enquiry procedure with an automatic right to compensation.

06

Prepare before sending

Before using a channel repeatedly, send a representative trial parcel and save the tracking and delivery records. Confirm the return address, failed-delivery treatment, enquiry deadlines and claim conditions. Keep parcel contents, declared value and recipient contact details accurate, and nominate a person to handle customer issues after the local-partner handover.

Before you ship

  • Identify the final delivery partner.
  • Check tracking and delivery evidence.
  • Confirm returns, charges and claims terms.
