August air-cargo demand rises as capacity stays tight
IATA reports 4.4% year-on-year demand growth, with total capacity down 0.1%.
IATA’s release on 29 September reports that global air-cargo demand, measured in cargo tonne-kilometres, rose 4.4% in August. International operations increased 5.3%, while total available capacity fell 0.1%.
The update also records a monthly rise in jet-fuel prices. These are industry-wide indicators: individual routes, shipment dimensions and airline acceptance still determine whether space is available and what a booking costs.
